Cynthia Kistasamy is a Fine Arts graduate and writer living in Johannesburg, South Africa. She works from her home-based art studio which she opens up every once in a while for art and writing classes. She also hosts fun paint and sip events.
Her artworks are mainly commissioned by clients, but she also sells pieces of art through her website. Have a look at some of the works available for sale!
She started writing in 2016 and has had some notable writing achievements since.
She was Long-listed for Short. Sharp. Stories Award, Trade Secrets (2017).
Her short story ‘Pepsi, Pie and Swimming Pools-in-the Sky was listed in the honours roll in SA Writer’s College Short Story Award (2017). The story was later published in the anthology, ‘We Mark Your Memory’, (University of London and Commonwealth Writers - 2018)
On the honours list, SA Writer’s College Short Story Award for ‘Kameel and the Firecracker Dog’ (2020).
Long listed in the international call by Afritondo for their first anthology contest (2020). Her story, ‘Shiva Eyes’ was published in the book, ‘Yellow Means Stay’.
She has gone on to self publish two novels.
